Jory Gotham joined Dr. Surface at Summit Orthopedics in October 2019. Originally from Gouverneur, New York, he was a three-sport athlete during his high school career. This sparked his interest and began his experience in pursuing a career with orthopedics.
Jory attended Alfred University where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training with a minor in Exercise Physiology. During this time, he played Division III football for the Alfred Saxons. Jory worked full-time as an Athletic Trainer at SUNY Canton in upstate New York. As an Athletic Trainer, Jory experienced a multitude of complex sports injuries while working alongside the women’s hockey team, men’s baseball team, women’s lacrosse team, and men’s basketball team. He also worked part-time as an Emergency Room Medical Assistant at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center prior to pursuing his ultimate goal of becoming a Physician’s Assistant.
In 2019, Jory graduated with a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, WV. He was President of the 2019 cohort. Already a certified Athletic Trainer, he became a board-certified Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants in 2019.
